Slooooooooow BIOS and other problems
Hi i recently installed anew hardware in my computer, including a gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D motherboard, as im not in the mood for doing troubleshooting i thouht id ask if anyone had this similar problem. When i start up the BIOS is incredibly slow, and hangs at points. the main problem is however that it wont actually start my os without having a cd in the drive (either a windows install or linux, it doesnt seem to mind) as long as it gets to go through the
Boot from cd:
Hit any key to boot from cd . . .
and then it starts normally, if i have no cd installed it says
UNABLE TO FIND SYSTEM DISK, REPLACE SYSTEM DISK AND HIT ENTER
i think thats it anyway, but ive only ever got that error before if its been a new hard drive.
My bios settings are also set to have first boot device as C: and ive tried in different configs, but its still the same.
Any help would be great TIA

It sounds like maybe you've connected it to the secondary IDE port (OR, if if it was previously connected to the secondary port, you've connected it to the primary port).
Or, did you previously have the hard drive installed with manual settings in the CMOS? If so, you may need to enter the same settings for your current system.
Have you been into the standard setting page of the CMOS setup and checked that the HD is correctly detected?
