My experiences with AOLs software hasn't been brilliant. It uses up a lot of system resources, and is generally annoying. An example of this would be my friend who had it on his computer. It ran slowly, and wouldn't shutdown. You had to turn it off at the switch every time. Uninstalling AOL fixed this.
Of course this is just an opinion, they also provide email etc which i'm sure is good. I'm just no a fan of unecessary software, I'd rather just the connection, then use any software I like with it. I certainly wouldn't move to AOL just for the wireless router, unless wireless is a real must and you just don't fancy buying one. Plus wireless can be unreliable too, though this is another hit or miss situation.
I use Nildram. Compare them with AOL on the site beebrook linked.
