cant use ipod!

hiya =D i got ipod for xmas, added all my cds onto it , gave it a password n stuff, and didnt write it down thinking i was a smart ass, now i have no idea wot it is and cant add stuff onto my ipod apart from my cds, which do tend to get a bit old after a while... can anyone tell me how i can sort this.. thanx
