confusion over norton security
3 Answers
I bought a new computer just a month ago and I thought that it came with Norton antivirus as the icon was showing when i switched it on, however I dont think it has been installed properly and now I have found myself with a virus. I keep gettnig popups and this yellow triangle with a ! is showing up as an icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen saying I have been infected with a trojan and "click here " to fix. which takes me to : malwarewiped.com or some other similar site.
Whenever I click on Norton all I keep getting is:
"You must restart your computer before running Norton Antivirus 2006" but yet it saying "Norton antivirus auto-protect enabled". Im confused!

I'm not an expert and I'm sure more qualified people will respond to your question, but in all likelihood by clicking on the yellow triangle with the ! you actually let the trojan loose on your system. Can you do a system restore? if so, restore to a point before you got the trojan and it might work. Also, you can download a good program (free) called Adaware by a company called Lavasoft - google it and you'll get lots of responses. That program deep scans your PC registry and can get rid of things that Norton can't. Norton was probably installed fine, but it can't stop everything.
