Keyboard with a mind of its own

My boss has a network terminal, no hard disk. Her keyboard has caps lock permanently on - you can't turn it off, and the only way to type in lower case is to hold the Shift key. In case it was a faulty keyboard, I changed it for one which I knew worked perfectly - same thing happened, as soon as the keyboard was connected, the caps lock went on permanently. (There are other problems but I can't remember what they are, and the caps problem is the most troublesome.)
What's going on here - and more importantly, is there any reasonably easy way to fix it? (IT support at our place is useless.)

I don't know whether it will work (as I suspect your boss has a profile where the caps lock is always on and it requires an IT bod to reconfigure it) but on this page is a caps lock killer LOL! http://www.accentoncomputers.com/19990611.htm

The depressing thing, j2buttonsw, is that you're probably right - I have no idea why her profile should have permanent caps lock built into it, but it wouldn't surprise me. We find all sorts of odd things on our machines that we don't need, don't want and shouldn't have access to! Unfortunately, having rather less admin rights than the office cat, downloading and installing any kind of .exe is doomed to failure.... thanks anyway...
