Help! Have purchased a Toshiba combination DVD/VCR recorder but cannot get it to accept DVD+RW discs. Even bought Verbatim discs as recommended in handbook but still get error message" playback feature may not be available on this disc". Seem to have set up ok. DVD recorded discs ( films that I have bought) will play and I can record and play video tapes. Do you think it might be a faulty machine?

Hi pauln.
Model number is D-VR 16SB
According to handbook I can use DVD-RW or DVD-R. Handbook recommend Verbatim DVD-RW 2x. I am using Verbatim DVD-4x which Dixon's told me would be suitable.
In the question you say plus RW and in your answer you say minus RW. You need to look carefully to see if you are putting pluses in a minus machine

Thank you so much for explaining the significance of the plus and minus I hadn't even registered that! Its such a disadvantage when one is a technophobe! Thanx a lot. Will let you know when I am successful. will mean a trip to Dixon's first!!
I think the inventors of the first system meant to call them DVD (dash) R and (dash) RW, but then the competition called theirs plus, so making the others look like minus. Clever really, because minus is SO negative.
