I think it's a benchmarking utility. Run a PC with set applications and a mesuremeant is took on how well the PC performs. There is a set/base score and specification. You cannot download or even buy most of the programs as their not for sale to the public, There are gamers benchmarking tools and you can use that compare your computer with others. The most poupular has to be 3dMark 2001/03 http://www.futuremark.com You can then compare your results with similair computers and seek to improve performance. There is also Aquamark which is new benchmark http://www.aquamark3.com/ (Both are free) Buy them for more benchmarking results... Their is also Aida32 which can perform a memory test but its main purpose is a system spec (and a very good one at that) program. http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32 A

popular one is Sisoft Sandra http://www.sisoftware.net/ which will analyse your computer and recommend settings which are meant to improve performance. Thier is also an online benchmarker from the "pit" http://www.pcpitstop.com it again scans your computer and analyses hardware and recommends improvements. You can compare your score with other systems and their online forum is full of advice. But at the end of the day if your computer is running fine, then just let it run fine.
