Is it the case that to receive both 'normal' sky programmes and those in HD it is necessary to buy BOTH boxes. ie The SKY HD box will not receive ' normal' SKY programmes.

Can it all be done vis a single dish?

You would only need the SkyHD box, it will receive both "normal" and high definition broadcasts.
