Hi there

I deleted my kodak easyshare software from my pc as every time i booted my pc up the kodak thingy wotsit would send it all mental. since then the pc is working much better, however now I have no editing software. I'm no professional. I just need something to edit, crop, lighten, resize etc. Do I have to buy something or is there a free download you would recommend?

Most people seem to suggest Picasa which is free

The BEST low cost Photo Editing software is Adobe Photoshop Elements, version 5.0 has just come out.

You can download a trial version from here

http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshopelwi n/

You can buy it for about 60 I think.

It is based on Adobe Photoshop which is the best photo editing software, but is about 400.
Try Irfanview from www.irfanview.com. This is a free photosoftware package that can do the things you mentioned and much more. I know loads of pro photographers that use it because it is so fast for this like viewing and batch-processing.

It's not a photoshop replacement but VERY useful.
