Computer problem

My son's computer has just had extra ram added and having taken it miles up the M1 in a blizzard to deliver it back to him he tells me today that there is no sound coming out, or the the sound is like an echo. Does anyone have a clue as to whats gone wrong?

Plugged the speakers in the wrong socket? On most sound cards there is some cross-talk between the sockets, so if you plug the speakers in the Mic or Line-in sockets and wack everything up to full volume you will probably here a faint sound.
