Supermarmarine Spitfire wing types

On some mkVb winged spitfires both in actual flying aircraft and scale models, two ridges (please excuse my ignorance of the technicla term) are presnt on the inward wing. while in other pictures of the same model these are totally absent. I've tried looking up the reson for this but to no avail. Do you have an explanation?

If you mean the two metal strips shown here, they have been added to re-inforce the wing surface where people stand, to prevent damage to the wing. (Note the adjacent warning, about not walking on the smaller area next to the fuselage).
It is reported that these are museum additions. They were apparently not present on operational aircraft, and for authenticity, should be removed if they're found on scale models.

These are exactly the pieces I was referring to, and to make things better I notice that your photo is of BM597 one of the still flying spits around (or at least I think so). I've been going crazy trying to find out what these strips were and your kind reply has finally put my mind at ease.
Your knowledge of the matter is obviously greater than mine but if ever I can return the favor feel free to ask what you need.
