Symantec Proxy Server

Each time I start up my new laptop I get a message saying that symantec proxy server has encountered a problem and needs to close then I can't get on the internet. What exactly is the problem and should I take the laptop back?

It would appear that ther is a problem with its configuration.
If you have a new laptop you probably have 2007 version of Norton in which case go to their help page here;

and see if this helps.
Personally I have had a lot of problems with Norton in the past.It is a large resource hungry package that can slow your pc down and cause conflict problems.
A lot of people choose to uninstall this product and use simpler and free solutions such as Zone Alarm firewall and AVGfree antivirus.
You could also go to the Symantec website and request assistance from them as it is a new product.Or get the supplier of the laptop to sort it
