Which is the best blank dvd media
11 Answers
I have been having many problems with my dvd recorder and would like to know what brand of dvd disc do you use, do you have any problems when recording and are there any brands that you steer clear of.
I have been using Memorex and Philips mainly and both have been causing problems but I have noticed that Maxell seems to have fewer problems.
Alternatively there may be a problem with the recorder itself and I may need to change that.
Thanks for any help.

DVD+R is better than DVD-R, but -R has more wide support, especially with some older players (standalone ones, mainly).
Another thing to note: try recording at the lowest speed that you can, and doing nothing else while it's burning.

If you look at the SVP site as recommended by fo3nix you will see reviews from people who have used the discs and how they have found them.
I too have had good results over the years with the Datawrite -R discs.
For +RW in my Liteon DVD recorder I have found the Verbatim discs to be excellent.
Discs do behave differently in different machines and is sometimes trial and error to get the right one for your machine.
Sometimes the DVD recorder manufacturers website has recommendations.
