i use talk21.com as an email address ,and across the top of the page is an advert for bt openworld and some of these adverts have sound which 'frits the bejesus' out of me when i'm computing late at night,does anyone know how to get rid of the advertising banner or at the very least turn the volume off ?

It should be fairly easy to mute the sound on your pc or laptop, or turn down the volume to zero - there should be a knob or button somewhere. Alternatively, if you look at the very small icons at the very bottom of your screen, you should see an icon looking like a loudspeaker. If you click on that icon, you will see a pointer that you can drag to "mute". (You then have to remember to alter the pointer back, if you want to listen to some music etc.)
