It improves the quality of the picture and sound received through your aerial. But a lot of them are a waste of money. The most important thing is to have a good aerial - preferably on your roof. An aerial on top of your TV will never give you more than just an average picture or worse. Look in Yellow Pages for TV aerial installers.
