To burn the videos you need software, not a lead...

the s-video lead is like a scart lead at the back of your TV, but with the s-video plug type. often laptops have a s-video output, so you can get a s-video lead to connect it to your TV to output the display.
...or do you mean you want to use your PC as a player whilst recording its output to a standalone DVD recorder. If so, S video will carry the picture (you'll need an audio lead for the sound) and to check that your PC has S Video out (not out of the question) while your DVD recorder has S Video in (a bit more unlikely).

Composite video is a more common connection method.
Agree with LeMarchand.

This is exactly the way I burn from my pc (a Dell laptop) to my DVD recorder (a Phillips) and it works a treat. You do need an extra lead for the audio though, SVideo doesn't carry sound.
