Kerosene: Sometimes referred to as 28 second, burning oil, central heating oil (although other oils may be used in central heating systems so this is not a strictly accurate term)
Kerosene or paraffin oil (British English, not to be confused with the waxy solid also called paraffin wax or just paraffin) is a colourless flammable hydrocarbon liquid.
Its heating value, or heat of combustion, is around 18,500 Btu/lb, or 43.1 MJ/kg, making it similar to that of diesel. It is widely used to power jet-engined aircraft, but is also commonly used as a heating fuel.
In addition, the viscosity of paraffin and kerosene are listed as identical. Since the 28 secpart of fuel oil refers to viscosity, it would appear they are interchangeable.
You could phone a supplier to ensure your heater is suitable for both.
