strange box on win xp

a box about 2'x21/2' has appeared top left of desktop--not actually on desktop--covers d/top icons--7 lines of text--15 minutes,30 minutes,1 hour,3 hours,6 hours,12 hours,24 hours--can do NOTHING WITH IT--it doesn't do anything itself--tried virus and spyware scans--nothing--anybody know?

Can you find a process in the task manager that corresponds to it? Have you service packed your new XP install?

thanks j2--i have done that--thought maybe u were talking about something else--HOWEVER-- i believe i have the answer--i did a reboot this morning and got amessage saying i had 5 days to activate xp--this was a puzzle since i had done this already--but i remembered restoring my system to early checkpoint--must have been checkpoint b4 i had activated--i rectivated xp on line and box is gone--thanks a lot--arthur
