Morning ABers
the usual crop of post has just arrived and alongside the letters from friends, Credit Card bill etc is the ever present load of "To the owner" trying to sell us:
1) Double glazing from 3 diffrent companies,(we already have this)
2) Affordable debtbuster Loan (no thanks)
3) cheap car insurance (once again we have this, for both our cars)
4) Soffit/Facia replacement, (nothing wrong with the ones we already have)
5) A coach holiday to Italy, (no thanks)
Does anyone reply to this unasked for unwanted mail?
Anything that the Royal Mail deliver to my door trying to sell me goods gets marked "return to sender, unwanted junk mail". What do you do with yours?
TIA

If it's asking me to buy food then I'm usually sold! Otherwise it gets recycled.
I remove and shred the address panel, then chuck them in the recycle bin.

I throw them in the fire.....usually unopened

We used to shred the rubbish, but decided that as the royal mail have a legal obligation to return anything marked "return to sender" we might as well let them carry out the practice
John, apparently they tell you not to do this because once you send it back, then they know you exissit so it makes it worse. Thats what they were saying on a programme about it the other week anyway.
Have you registered with the t.p.s becuase they can also stop your jumk mail for you too?.
Personally i just shred anything with my name and address on it.

We did julie, we even downloaded the stuff from the Royal Mail website to stop them delivering the stuff in the 1st place, but, as evidenced on my hallway entrance this morning they are about as much use as a one legged man in an 4rse kicking contest
oh and also, how the hell do you get your mail so early????????? lol

We live in the Vale of Belvoir Julie, miles from anywhere, we have an LE postcode, but we get post from the Nottingham depot!!!!!, baffles me as well
If any of it ever comes with a postage paid addressed envelope, shove all the other bits of junk mail into this and send it back to them.
(Remove anything with your name/address on first though)
Question Author
sorry ludwig I can only give you 3 stars for that suggestion, it deserves more
Ive got a rubber stamp marked:
"NOT KNOWN AT THIS ADDRESS
SENDER: DELETE FROM YOUR RECORDS
PO: RETURN TO SENDER"

I stamp them and put them in a post box, It costs the sender, if everyone did this there would be no junk mail.

I have now put the recylcle bucket under the letter box and pick out the good And necessary - bills etc ) stuff - saves hours.

Loosehead, where can I buy one of those rubber stamps?

lol @ sense4all
I can live with the junk mail its more the phone calls that do my head in and yes, i am also registered with the t.p.s! lol It worked for a while and i must admit its not as bad as it was so its doing something but they drive me bonkers!
DFS keep offering us cheap sofas. What makes them think I either need or want one?

And don't they ever think that I have probably got a TV and can see they have a 12 monthly sale on ~ and I don't believe for one second that the sale will end on Monday?

And if I wanted a sofa I would just go out and buy one?
www.vistaprint.co.uk - free although they're not really as you pay "postage" but well worth it.

julie, i got a phone call from somewhere in India telling me that I met the criteria for a low cost home loam, he asked for my address and I told him "cell 269, Leicester Prison, Welford Road, Leicester" I also told him that I would need a home when I escaped from my life sentence for 3 axe murders so the offer of his loan would come in handy indeed. I've only ever heard one other person put a phone down so quickly lol
I've done that several times as well Ludwig. Quite frequently, I'll address it to a random name as well, hoping that it will waste somebody's time trying to track them down
