.wmv file: sound but no picture

I've downloaded a .wmv file and when I try to play it in Windows Media Player the sound is fine but there's no picture - what can I do to get the picture? Thanks.

It sounds like you're missing the correct codec. Usually this happens when you don't have DivX installed and you try to play a DivX file. However your file is a wmv, and (as far as i know) DivX files are .avi. It could be one of two things, either someone has renamed a DivX file: try renaming it to .avi and installing DivX. Or you don't have the correct .wmv codec, try looking around for a codec pack, or on the widows media player help file for the codec you need. You could also try downloading the lastest win media player. (There is a quite good codec pack on www.kazaalite.tk)

im not to familiar with .wmv files but i've had that problem many times. As said in the previous post u need up to date codecs. I havent had any problems since a friend sent me a codec pack with nearly 40 codecs. Unfortunately, i dont know where its from, but if u search either the net or kazaa for "nimo50build8" or "NIMO Codec Pack" and find it, hopefully ur problems will be solved :D
