Idiots with loud music and windows down!

Please, for the love of God, will someone explain why we have a plethora of idiots, usually in crappy cars, with music at full blast and all the windows down, driving around our towns??
Dont they realise that they are being laughed at as total pillocks?
Is it some attention seeking behaviour? Or just designed to annoy other people?
It seems to be at epedemic proportions, and I may have to form a Anti-idiot group to sort them out!
Please, if you are an 'idiot' or you can explain why you or others do this, tell me! Cos you look ridiculous!!

they probably do this to hide the fact that their astmatic engine came out of a lawnmower, yet still manages to sound as lound as a tractor from inside the car.
or they struggle to hear through a hoodie.

defenstrate: interesting answer. Of course most 'idiots' are young and male, of the shaven headed thick variety. (Sorry to generalise to follically challenged brethren). The hoodie plays a part also.
But, my quest is, what are they trying to prove?
I mean, I like rock music, of the heavy variety, yet, if I see a pedestrian, I turn it right down, as I do not wish to annoy, nor draw attention to myself. I wouldnt dream of opening all 4 windows and cranking up the volume!
Total morons comes to mind!

I know what you mean but I must question your use of the term "Music"! It usually sounds like someone in a straight jacket continually head butting and generally bouncing off the inside a corregated iron shed! Now if it was a bit of proper 80's music with discernable lyrics and a semi sensible volume it wouldn't be so bad! I guess you have to be on various drugs before it means anything! Yes I think your claim that they are "Total morons" does have some merit!

They like to be noticed - and haven't gone through puberty yet - they willl realise what pratts they are when they get older and have to start wearing a hearing aid.

In my town it is all the dance music that is played out of cars. I continually have a go at my son who drives around town with rock music up at about volume 20 on his cd player but he doesnt listen.

Seems to me to be a bit misguided to want to draw attention to yourself this way!
If I was in a crap car, I would try to avoid attention!!
And why all 4 windows open? Maximum annoyance factor?
I think we are talking the lower end of the human race here: people who really don't care about anyone other than themselves, which sadly, is becoming the norm nowadays.

Thecorbyloon - read it again, I said I like ROCK MUSIC, I didnt say that I play it loud. Nor would I dream of cranking it up with the windows open.

Read yir previous answer. If you have to turn it right down, it follows it must have been right up. It must have been loud enough for a passer-by to hear it so that is why I said it's a matter of degree. By the way, I am a loon.

I think part of the problem is that the music isn't really designed to be played at low volume. I can't imagine that a bands like Slayer or Dimmu Borgir expect their music to be played as quite background music and I guess that the creators of dance music which have heavy bass lines would feel the same.......that said I heard one car yesterday with two young lads in playing abba at full volume?

I wouldn't say that the loud music bothers me if its in town though residential areas are another matter.

Loon from Corby - that doesnt follow that it was 'right up', just that I turn it down from normal right down, because my bug bear, as you can tell, is idiots playing music too loud!!


Coobeastie - Thanks, thats a fair answer that some music has to be loud to be appreciated. But why must everyone else in the vicinity have to suffer it, cos one idiot has all his windows down??
