Music from iTunes not playable on my iPod!

I downloaded "Little By Little" by Oasis tonght from iTunes.
Not only did it take AN AGE(!) to download, but when I tried I tried to sync it onto my iPod, I got an on-screen maeesage telling me that it couldn't be played on an iPod - WHY?!
