Car battery makes a buzzing/crackling noise whilst being charged.
2 Answers
Hi I have found that my car battery makes a crackling noise whilst being charged. The batery was left in my car and unused for 10months. It has now been removed from the car, placed on newspaper and charged with a mains battery charger. But for some reason it is making a loud buzzing, crackling noise whilst being charged. The 6 cells have the correct amount of distilled water in them and whilst being charged I have loosened the cells screw caps. Has anyone got any ideas?

If possible look into the cells whilst charging (use something glass between your eyes and the battery, old pane of glass if you got it, or even an oven dish). If any of the cells are bubbling away looking like they are boiling, not just a few bubbles, then that cell has gone and its bin time for the battery.
I would think that not used at all for 10 months then the battery has had it.
