i have a phone number how can i find out the address .all the ones that google throw up are in the u.s. there must be a british one somewhere

You can't. Reverse lookup telephone directories are restricted to organisations like the Police & the Samaritans in the UK. Annoying, but safer than the American system.

I think the actual reason is a purely financial one Glenis, without installing it to check, I think my infospace.co.uk CD rom does this without any trouble- I know it turns up residents from addresses for sure. It also costs about �100. Britain is no more secure than anywhere else, just meaner. I would also (for free) check out www.b4usearch.com who may do it, also www.infobel.com which is a worldwide directory. If that doesn't work I could look it up on my CD but we ought to correspond in private if we are giving names and addresses out.
