i keep failing retail interviews lately, I know its because I seem like I'm not bothered to be there as I'm a student and just need to extra cash. I've made a list of the questions they usually ask, can anyone help me blag way my through with some answers?
What was a typical day like in (whatever store)
Why do you want to work for (whatever store)
What is your idea of good customer service?
Tell us about a time you have received excellent customer service?
Tell us about a time you have received really bad customer service?
How would you deal with a difficult customer?
Who do you think our competitors are?
What do you think are your strengths and weaknesses?
Why do you enjoy working in retail?

However you may have answered your own question by saying it may seem as if you're not bothered - interviewers will pick up on this. They are always keen to have examples of instances where you have done certain things and many will be as interested in examples from your personal life as they are from work experience. If you type "job interviews" into Google there are some really good sites offering advice and even going through what not to say. If you have failed to get a job after an interview you can contact the company and ask if there were any specific reasons why they did not offer you a job as you would like some feedback so that you can improve your chances. But you do need to seem really keen when you go for an interview - good luck!
Best way I found was to do a little research on the company you've applied to so you're prepared when they ask you questions about themselves such as competitors etc. The fact that you've bothered to do some research shows them you're genuninely interested in working for them. Second, tell them what they want to hear!! For example, your weaknesses... I've always said that my 2 main weaknesses are that Im a workaholic and a perfectionist!!! (Bosses love someone who cant get enough work and makes sure everything is done right!)
