I have a huge library of music on my computer and it would completely destroy me if I found all these gone next time I turn on my computer (as the thing is already screeching at me like some kind of locked up crack baby).

The thing is I have a dvd+rw and discs are all ready to go, but im having trouble getting them on there.

Is there a program which would just put the files on the disc untill full and then prompt me to put in another disc? I have nero but im having trouble getting it to work, it just says the disc is not big enougth.

I know its going take a long time but I really dont wanna be nursing it all weekend So is there anyone with any advice? Thanks.

Nero only lets you back up on to CD-R if you dont have the MPEG-4 plug in for it, costs extra as usual. So your only option would probably be buying an external hard drive, you can get 160Gb for 40 now.

TBH i have been searching the net for months now to find a program that will just back up files to a DVD and nothing out there that is free.

shame, seeing people are always telling us to back up.
Paulst30 - It is possible to copy music files to Dvd.
Dabs have a range of usb external hard drives. All the 250Gb models cost less than 60.

Extrnal harddrives would be the quickest and easiest soloution, for sure. But Im pretty skint at the moment and am looking for a soloution that if the "back up" breaks it will only be me to blaim.
I have just used Nero Back it Up and selected a folder which has 8Gb of mp3 files and it prompted me to insert a second disc and copied them. If you can't make your version work, I would separate the music files into folders where each folder contains no more than 4.5Gb. Have the folders numbered in order so you can remember where you're up to.
Write them to DVD using Nero (select Data DVD).
I know the second method is more effort but it will work

Ive just re installed Nero and have discovered the back up tool HWKE was talking about. Ive done a full install this time and it seems to be upto the job I was after.

Im a bit concerened about this mpeg-4 plugin borking up things now, but am glad for the heads up, Paulst30.
Try itunes. It's free and it's so easy for backups. You can import Mp3 tracks and AAC files onto it.

You can leave them as Mp3 files if you want - just choose not to convert them to AAC when it asks you!

Once all your files are on itunes, through prefernces - burning...choose the data disc option.

Create a new playlist and place all your songs on it. then click burn disc and load in a DVD when the drive pops open. It will automatically ask for the next disc when that one is full!

Really is so simple compared to Nero.
