Lost document

This may seem a stupid question , I am not very technical so I will ask in a very basic manner.I have somehow managed to lose a document in Notepad.
The document is sitting in My Documents but I cannot open it, it has the letters txt at the end.
Can anyone help me

Right click on the document, and click 'open'

If it doesn't open, what message pops up?

Try right clicking on it and select OpenWith, select Notepad to open it.
