I assume it has worked at some time?
Couple of things to try
Go to computer
1 can you see the CD drive?
2 if yes can you access data CD/DVDs?
If no
3 go to control panel | autoplay - select default actions for music.
if no
control panel | administrative tools | computer management | Disc management
can you see the drive there?
(a good idea while you are here is to change the DVD drive letter(s) to w and/or x to make room for extra HDDs, USB iPod etc).
if no
control panel | device manager | DVD/CD-rom
open the branch. Can you see the drive(s)?
if yes ... remove the drive then .....
Action | scan for hardware changes .... the drive(s) should re-install
if no
now it gets serious ... open the box and check the cables .... (often if PC is delivered by courrier things are loosened - check all the ribbon connecters are well home and ensure the power (molex) feeds are seated also (often verrrrry stiff)
if no
Ring the support desk - arrange a rapair
btw Don't wory about the audiocable ... they are redundant
