How do I configure my various drives to automatically start reading any disc or memory card inserted into them?
I know that this is basic, simple stuff, but I'm suffering with 'information overload' and memory retention ( I think) problems!!
Any help (simple) much appreciated
Cheers

If you go to 'my computer' you will see a list of the drives.

right click on the icon of each drive, and click on properties.

The second tab is 'autoplay' click on that and it should be self explanatory from there
If autoplay has somehow been disabled - not necessarily a bad thing, Google "Sony rootkit" - an easy way to reinstate it is to download and install Tweak UI from Microsoft, it's free and allows you to set/unset autoplay by drive as well as make a few other useful tweaks. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/p owertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Open it and go to the "My Computer" function in it to change autoplay settings. Then follow Oneeyedvic's instructions.
