you odn't describe the symptoms but the usual problem is that there are active programs running in the background which cause it to reset. this can be solved by running it in safe mode instead.
On the radio this week a caller had a similar problem. The expert told him it could be his anti virus prog running. I dont think Norton AV interferes (plus some others). If you have AV, turn it off and try defraging.
the standard windows de-fragger is the most stubborn piece of software around. It takes ages too.
Search on Google for Diskkeeper. It's a brilliant defragger and most importantly, you can get a lite version for free.
Thanks for all replies.
Have tried in 'safe mode F8 button' - no avail.
Have removed activee - to no avail.
I use to be able to do this last year? Maybe my computer doesn't like 2004!.
What I get when disc defrag is on the go is 1%, then 2% then back to zero! It will do this for days if I let it.
Will try the internet google Diskeeper one and see if that works.
Thanks again!
