I found the ones that came with my nano to have pretty bad sound quality. I'm using some seinheiser earphones at the moment and they're really good, good sound quality, price and they don't look like an antenna. Not sure on the model but any of the later models are good.
Unless you go for the expensive 50 to 100 ones(!) like Shure or the new Bose, try Google and earthumps, then choose the best price - I like the black ones - Griffin are good (and Gordon Harwood computers)

and sennheiser as mentioned above (always a good bet, same place).
Don't be tempted by the cheap Koss - they don't get good reviews?

If you use the train I would recommend the sound blocking ones that fit right in your ear canal and block out most outside noise. You can the listen at a much lower volume and still hear more clearly. Ive got some Shure e2c earphones (about 35 I think) and they are absolutely fantastic. Ten times better quality than the original ipod ones.
Yes it was. They are still doing the black ones for 35, free delivery.
