We've paddled the same water mate, just don't bother with the cheap "ipod earphones" from ebay if you ebay. I found the ones that came with my nano to have pretty bad sound quality. I'm using some seinheiser earphones at the moment and they're really good, good sound quality, price and they don't look like an antenna. Not sure on the model but any of the later models are good.
More iPod ones?

If they're under a year old, you can get them replaced by Apple. Call them and they'll send you new ones.
i was going to suggest the same brand as isj032 - sennheiser are commonly regarded as the best in their price range.
Unless you go for the expensive 50 to 100 ones(!) like Shure or the new Bose, try Google and earthumps, then choose the best price - I like the black ones - Griffin are good (and Gordon Harwood computers)

and sennheiser as mentioned above (always a good bet, same place).

Don't be tempted by the cheap Koss - they don't get good reviews?

If you use the train I would recommend the sound blocking ones that fit right in your ear canal and block out most outside noise. You can the listen at a much lower volume and still hear more clearly. Ive got some Shure e2c earphones (about 35 I think) and they are absolutely fantastic. Ten times better quality than the original ipod ones.
Hammer, that was a great price for the Shure - was it Amazon?
