System dangerously low in resources!

Panic stations For the past few days I've been getting warnings that 'The system is dangerously low in resources! Would you like to terminate the following application?' and then a yes/no/cancel option for EVERYTHING which is running and, in reality, no bloody choice at all, it all has to go. I THINK it's happening when I try to use Word but it might be in other applications - I'm just so overwhelmed with grief, my brain stops functioning, too. Help, please, from you clever people out there!!! (Is it any help? I've checked my C drive and I appear to have 24.3GB of free space) (And I've run Norton to check disc problems)

by the sounds of it your problem is quitea common problem with microsoft word.i had the same prob a couple of years ago.the way round the prob is to rename afew files.click find then type in 'normal'(no apostophes). there should be a few files named 'normal.dot'.rename these files to something like normal1.dot,normal2.dot etc.etc then you should be fine
