The first origins of the Internet ' or rather the possibility of what could be achieved through networking ' has been attributed to J.C.R. Licklider of the MIT in the US back in August 1962 and his theory of the Galactic Network. Online there is a great website http://www.isoc.org/internet/history/brief.html#Or
igins
that will give you lots of details on the history of the origins of the Internet ' it is heavily copyrighted so I can't give much more information here. Also check out these 2 websites they will give you lots more information on the history of networking, packet switching and the evolution of the Internet: http://www.zakon.org/robert/internet/timeline/ and http://www.netvalley.com/intval.html
