bank charges
1 Answers
Hi a few months ago I got a consolidation load of five thousand pounds, one of the things I paid off was my overdraft but the lady on the telephone did not tell me that my overdraft facility would be withdrawn if I did this. By the time I realised I no longer had an overdraft a couple of direct debits of mine did not got through because of this and I was charged 60-00. I went online to apply for my overdraft but was declined, I tried a few more times but was still declined. I couldnt understand why when all I had done was cleared it. I called my bank and got through to India. The person on the phone told me if I keep paying charges I could have paid enough to bring him to England. Well you can imagine how that made me feel. I have written a total of four letters to my bank and have not had one reply. I made an appt to go to my branch and when I turned up they told me they could not help me, but gave me a phone number of the department that could. I called them and waited in the queue for an hour then gave up. I called another number and was automatically in a queue where they call you back. This was three days ago and im still waiting. This is all for a 500-00 overdraft. So far I have been charged five hundred pounds in returned direct debits and overdraft access fee when I havent even got an overdraft. Paying this off was the worst thing I could have done. I then find out that the lady whom I dealt with at my bank when paying this off has put a block on my overdraft for 12 months? why? havent got a clue and no-one knows. can anyone help. janex

At least it was with NatWest when I worked for them. This could explain why your overdraft has been withdrawn and you keep getting refused a new one.
500 in charges is a bit steep for 2 unpaid direct debits! Was there more to it than that?
