For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.As abhorrent as it is, perhaps this will indeed highlight the plight of those awaiting donor organs and raise national awareness in order to increase the numbers of people willing to donate a kidney etc.
The part I dislike is the freak show element which is so archetypal of such programmes. I am sure if indeed a good cause, it could have been done differently, but I fear this is more about making more money and more headlines for Endemol, rather than any public interest or moralistic purpose.

The makers are saying that they're doing it to highlight the shortage of donors as if a series based on people on dialysis wouldn't do that!!
Many years ago I read a SF novel about people entering a national lottery to see who would have organ replacement, oxygen or euthanasia, just too creepy.

if it gets every single person in the Uk that watched the program carrying a donar card then it is worth it, in fact, if it gets one person an organ they wouldn't have otherwise had...it is worth it! I agree with Skreech, who knows this could really pave the way to an opt out instead of an opt in on organ donation.
They only need to do this once in my opinion. Lets hope its not done again and again and again.
