I've had four Dect phones for about 3 years, but recently all have begun to have crackles and general interference. Is this normal ar is there a more fundamental reason i.e. Should I replace the rechargeable batteries in all the phones? Nothing else has been changed-- no new electricalappliances.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if they are all crackling, then the problem is probably with your phone line, or possibly the base station.

Thanks Rojash, the base staion phone is the one that is least problematic although it does succumb on odd occassions. I just wondered if the rechargeable batteries are at the end of the recharging life?
I don't know of any mechanism by which a failing rechargeble battery would cause the symptoms you describe. Normally the symptoms would simply be failure to hold a charge for a decent length of time - i.e. the battery would tend to go flat within a couple of hours, or less, of being removed from the charger.

Thanks again Rojash, I'll have to get used to the sound on the phones I guess. Sounds like the kids at breakfast with snap crackle and pop!! Maybe get BT to check the line as a last resort. Thanks for the help and your knowledge.
