Anti-Bullying campaign & Website.
3 Answers
My daughter Gemma runs an anti bullying website and campaign for the past 6 years being the victim of horrendous bullying herself for over 9 years. We are situated in South Wales (Nr Cardiff) and the next step is to set up a local group for parents and children to come together to get advice and to support each other. If anyone is interested in helping to start up this much wanted group we would appreciate help and further advice.
On a happy note Gemma is now 22 yrs old and has just got married and is an example to all those suffering the torment of bullying at the moment and is positive proof that things can get better if you just confide in someone you trust! There is so much help available and others who are ready to start up similar groups. Gemma has worked extensively with government speaking at the DfEs Make A Difference anti-bullying conferences all over the country. Most of Gemma's work is at schools and workplaces. Gemma has spoken at conferences with Esther Rantzen and DfES minister M Ivan Lewis and is trained by the NSPCC in Peer Support. Are there any similar groups out there who could advise? Hoping to hear from you soon. All correspondence is treated confidentially and anyone interested in helping with advising and helping children would need to be police checked.

It is true that you can become self condfident adults after facing the trauma of bullying but it doesn't make you feel sure of yourself when it is happening to you. You are so right when you say that people can become stronger because of bullying and go on to become self assured, confident adults. The problem is that it doesn't seem that way when you are a child suffering bullying and dreading each and every day, or a parent of a bullied child who doesn't know where to turn to for help.
As adults we owe it to our children to keep them safe and protect them and make sure each child has the opportunity to learn in a safe, caring environment if they are to achieve their full potential.
Thank you for your valuable comments and we are so glad to hear the you too survived bullying.
Best Wishes

well done to your daughter. bullies are eil people and reck childrens lives. my sister was the victim of bullying and even got beat up and put in hospital with internal bleeding. the school didnt do a thing and have backed the bullies more than the victim. she has taken 3 overdoses cus she cant cope with it anymore. people say she is wrong in doing this and it has messed my head up but i would do the same in her shoes. in the end she plucked up the courage and faught back and hit the bully. the police were called on several occasions and my mum even called the police to let them know what had happened. the school then kicked my sister out for good becasue she stood up to the bully, she is only 13
