cyrix processor

i have an old pc which im trying to get going for my niece , it has a cyrix processor which seems very slow (any music played by the win media player is really slow and jumpy) i think there is enough ram (128).so the question is, is there any reason couldnt buy a cheap socket 7 pentinum 1 processor from ebay to replace the cyrix ?

There are plenty of reasons, the mother board is probably the main one as well as the software used, Windows Media Player is one of them as it is VERY hungry of all resourses, try Win Amp or other free media players and use the older versions from http://www.oldversion.com/ which will work with your system
