What is the difference between NTFS and FAT32, please?
If you have FAT32 is it easy to switch to NTFS, or is it very complicated?

NTFS is a newer file system for your hard drive, more secure and recognises larger drives than FAT32, by way of compression. Or something like that.
The only way to convert is by formatting the drive thus wiping it clean of data and starting anew.

I converted my desktop last year from FAT to NTFS and I certainly did not have to format the drive. It is very simple to do, takes a minute and does not affect your files, software of anything.

I was nervous about doing it, despite trusted friends assuring me it would be safe and easy.

I finally plucked up the courage, and it really did take only a minute, no problems and all was well.

It's worth having a backup of your drive, or at least your important data, before continuing.
