My Epson Stylus C43UX Printer has stopped working ...

... obviously this is not worth trying to get repaired as it is old and not cost-effective. So, can anyone recommend a replacement for it that is inexpensive, cheap to run, has both black and colour cartridges. I would like to upgrade to a scanner/printer.

I really liked this printer for all the above reasons and the fact that I got it free initially by buying ink.

Incidentally, if anyone has one of these still working, I have some unused remanufactured cartridges for it and would be happy to send them to you as no longer any good to me.

Have you tried downloading this utility to 'unset' the 'sponge overflow' error?

Thanks Wideboy, I've been to bed and work since posting sorry not to have replied sooner.

What is sponge overflow?

What has happened is that both the red and green lights flash on the printer and the manual states "unknown printer error" contact your dealer.

Any ideas?

Epson printers (and some others) have a 'tank' that is used when you clean the heads. In time, this becomes full (it's a sponge). This is in-built redundancy! The utility I mentioned can get round this but you are well-advised to 'Google' your printer and this error. You might be given details of how to clean the sponge etc.
