Interestingly, well to me anyway, OE saves the files as .dbx extensions (eg inbox.dbx, sent.dbx) so try searching for *.dbx. Your contacts may be as a .wab file so search for this 'n all. You can export your messages/address book using file > export which will create a .pst file which is used by Microsoft Outlook (a much better email client).
Have a look at OEBackup from http://www.oehelp.com/OEBackup/Default.aspx it will backup your mailboxes, address book, mail rules and Identities so that you can then save them to disk. Geoff
