What does it mean when sending an e mail to a confidential source it says that your message is 'encrypted'?

It means that the message had been encoded in such a way that it can only be deciphered by someone who has the decryption key - in simple English, the message is in code.

May I ask when the message is encrypted can the recepient identify who the sender of the original e mail is?
