Desktop icons?

Why do my desktop icons now appear about 2 minutes after I boot up and get my blank screenshowing nothing? What have I done?? and how do I get my normal desktop back - the one where after about 45seconds I have a blank screen with 4 icons down one side ready to start work??

Any ideas?

You have a very slow computer.
try speed it up free.
It should make your computer faster. If not you have a memory problem so you should try and defrag your hard drive.

forget speed it up
a - you don't say which version of windows (or even if it is windows) ... but

three things you need to do
1 run disk clean up
(open my computer - right click c: - properties - disk cleanup)
2 run defrag (same place ... open my computer - right click c: - properties - tools
3 check disk for errors

if still slow - you could try more memory (it's quite cheap) - look on http://www.crucial.com/

Do you also have new internet software booting up when you switch on your PC ? Skype, avast etc.. they all will slow it down till connection is complete.

More ram in your pc should help it alot.
