Samsung d800

I have just a Samsung d800 off my mate. at present its on O2 and there are still 3 months of contract left on it.
When i put my orange sim in it , it still works. What will happen at the end of that 3 month contract? He says i will still be able to use the phone as it will be his phone after this time.
Is this true? or do i get it unblocked for orange?

the o2 contract will run and keep charging until you physically cancel it ie. it wont automatically stop at the end of the 12 months.
you can put the orange sim in the phone at anytime and use the phone as the phone and the o2 contract are not related in anyway ie. that sim doesnt have to be solely used with that phone.

so just use the phone with your sim card!
