Weird phonecall from ex! Anyone help me work this out?
6 Answers
Had this weird call yesterday, my mobile rang, didnot recognise number, so answered, noone seemed to be there! I said, "Hello" waited, "hello " again no reply, just as I was about to hang up, a male voice said, "oh, hello, um, er, sorry who is this? I think I may have the wrong number. I knew EXACTLY who it was, (an ex who I haven't seen for 15 years. I simpy said "it's (my name)" and he replied, "Oh sorry yes wrong number".
I thought I may be wrong so, checked against a card he sent me 2 years ago when my Mother died, and it WAS him.
I have spoken to him a few time over the years, so not sure what it was all about. Either.....
1) He found my number, and no name, and needed to check who it belongs to.
2) I'm about to get a stalker.
3)...... Can't think of another.
Anyone know (particularly guys out there) what might have been going through his head???

could it just be someone who sounds like him?
i have had a couple of experiences of mistaken phone identity.
a woman arguing with me that was norma, (her daughter in law) and why was i being weird with her - (i am not norma)
one of my friends called me upset that i had been weird with her on the phone - she had called someone elses number and thought it was me denying it and that i must be mad at her.
many of my sisters friends launch into a conversation with me on the phone, thinking i am her, and vice versa.
so really, a few years - you could be mistaken...?
i also think you are reading too much into it - a stalker??
bit over the top
he may well have been testing a number, or calling someone else with the same name - that has happened to me and been done by me.
if it was him and he realised it was you, his reaction says it all - anyone else would have said ''oops sorry its me, rang wrong number...'' etc - his long pause and blase ''sorry wrong number'' shows he did not want to speak to you and hadn't intended to call you, and was shocked when he realised it was you - probably debated whteher to put the phone down or speak
either way unless it happens again - forget it.

Sounds to me like he found the number, with no name, and wondered who it was. So he just called it to find out. but not to have a conversation with you. I have a number on my phone with no name, and every now and then i try and call it (it always gos straight to answer phone) but i know that if anyone ever answers, i will not say who i am, cos i just want to find out who they are....
