can anyone help me i use to have a square box with three round cicles in sign of restart and shut down in but now i have the old way its windows media centre guide how do i get back to the other way can any one help

I saw this when first posted but didn't know the answer.

I reformatted yesterday and the same happened to me...took me an hour or so to work out what i'd done...thought i'd post a reply just in case you hadn't yet found an answer...also may help someone else.

This worked for me.

Go to Control Panel/User Accounts...click Change the way users log on or off...tick Use The Welcome Screen then Apply.
