House Repossession Order in case the owner is AWOL

My friend is renting a house in Essex. She's been paying rent to the tenant who was supposed to pay mortgages to the bank. Just a few days ago the Bank sent my friend a letter addressed to the occupier. It says that the tenant is AWOL and the Bank has no choice but to file papers for a repossession order. Which I assume will be followed by eviction.
We really need to know how long it's going to take for the repossession order to come out (what time my friend has to find another place)? Do they have to get an eviction order for her?
It's a terrible situation because my friend has a kid and basically no plce to go. Is there any way to postpone the eviction?
We will appreciate any advise. Thank you.
