You know when you press the above, a window (Task Manager?) appears to let you 'End now' a program that is running? Well I have Windows XP and the window has suddenly changed to displaying who is logged on and asking if you want to log off or disconnect. This is a right pain, as you then have to re start the PC. I've had a quick look round to see if I can find where this window appears from, but no luck. Anyone any ideas how I can get back to the 'End now' window format?

"Applications, Processes, Performance, Networking, Users." It sounds as if you have the "Users" tab selected. Simply click the "Application" tab to bring back the End Task window you want. For future reference, when you are in the users tab, you dont NEED to restart, just click the cross in the top corner.
I haven't got any 'tabs' at all across the top. If I had, I would have tried them. The only choices are at the bottom of the page, 'Disconnect' and 'Logoff'. I do get a little square grid picture appear on the taskbar by the clock. If I right click on this, it comes up with 'close' so I can get rid of the window.
Alt + Cntrl + Del should bring up the security box in which you have the "lock computer", "shut down", log off", "change password and "task manager". You want the task manager to stop tasks that have stopped responding. You can also get to the task manager by right clicking on the task bar (the bar at the bottom of your screen) and selecting "Task manager..."
OK j2, I've tried right clicking on the taskbar and selecting the Task Manager, but I still get the same window coming up. The window has the following titles (and entries). User(My name), ID (0), Status (Active), Client Name( ), Session (Console). At the bottom it just has 3 options. Disconnect, Logoff, Send Message(though this option is not available). Is there another way to get into the Task Manager? like direct by going C:>WINDOWS>some other folder? I have tried going through the Accesories etc via the Start>All Programs route.
I found it in the system32 folder, but when I clicked on it it has no options to go to the usual 'End now' page, just the page I have got now. Do you think one of the Windows Automatic Updates might have changed it? If I can't get anywhere, I 'll try going onto the Microsoft site and see if I can get hold of someone technical.
