Yes got a old pc from a family members office, it's a fairly old dell but it is running xp.

I think the previous owner deleted some personal stuff. I have then managed to delete alot of other rubbish that was still stored on there and then empty the recycle bin. Some doc's I need to keep so I have reorganised them and put them in a new file.

But now I seem to be left with loads of old empty files in 'My Documents' where the 'inards' have beed deleted but the folders remain and when I select them to be deleted the computer says 'I cannot delete them as the pc needs to be reconnected to the server to do so'. I of course cannot really take it all the way back into the office to connect it, so what else can I do to get rid of them.

Thanks in advance

they may not be on the new account, but they will still be there usingusless space and just cludding up the computer.....

personally id go for teh re-install...
Surely if they are empty folders they can't be taking up much disc space? Ignore them?

well they do take up space, teh short cut is 1kb...but despite that, when i get a new ANYTHING always restore it to factory settings.....
