laptop vga port problem

I have a laptop but the screen doesn't work. The picture from the port on the back comes out fine on a monitor. Just not on the laptop screen. Any ideas? I changed the cable etc, it appears to be the VGA outlet to the laptop screen. Is there any way to fix this? cheers

It could be a faulty diffuser or the backlight. unless you're trained to repair these or feel a bit brave then you need to send it to a laptop specialist/ cost? probably more than the laptops worth unless it is fairly new
